Observations in the Landscape is a series of watercolour and gouache paintings that evolved from lunchtime walks across Pelsall North Common in the West Midlands. Initially, my search was for colour amidst the gloom as Autumn faded into Winter. I first noticed the pop of red from the rose hips, followed by the yellow ochre hues of the glorious oaks, the last of the purple blackberries and finally the golden spikes of sweet chestnut shells.
